indian politics
In the end he raises the following questions:
what do you think about India’s political scenario??
Do old politicians understand young India?
Are there specific policies/politicians you admire/detest??
Can the system change?? If yes, how? If not, why not??
The question Do old politicians understand young India? caught my attention since its the easiest of all to address
I think the above question is irrelevant to begin with! There exists no accountability in India hence the politicians need not care to understand. Hence the question of are they is ridiculous.
Its just the way the people couldn’t care less about politics. The only difference is that people actually are at loss by this apathy unlike politicians who gain from the ignorance. In simple terms...not caring is WIN- WIN for political business and LOSE- LOSE for citizens*
Until and unless there is an incentive for them to work for the benefit of the country they never will take the initiative. In general,Human actions are determined by the reward of the action( even philanthropist is looking for the reward of satisfaction or righteousness) . Given the current scenario the politicians are heavily rewarded in personal gain if they care about their profit as compared to the duty they job dictates. Like any normal Human,he chooses the path more rewarding, so its about time to make the betterment of country profitable and lucrative for the people who are assigned to it!
Part of solution is of course minimum school education and population control which have been.Education means improving the supply( better lives) and population means controlling the demand to suit the supply. But this still doesn't make the politicians do their job.
I read somewhere that Aristotle(or was it Socrates, pardon my blasphemy) thought Politics should be left to people who have enough leisure to pursue it! Not a perfect idea but definitely identifies the conflict of personal gain and duty to society one gains it from! Either make it impossible to have a choice and/or we can make it profitable for them .
The first option means greater transparency and legal accountability of individuals and regimes. People should treat the country like their organization and politicians like their employees.Once a transparent system is in operation there should be periodic appraisals at the local level (may be a panchayat or town all assembly) .These outcomes/reports should be acted upon by applying grades or probation and eventual ban/termination from political scene. I am not saying this system cannot be corrupted but with sufficient vigilance **from the public ,corruption and misuse can be curtailed to a large extent.
The other major part should be played by the judiciary. The regime and the individual should both be held accountable for and be prosecuted for any illegal acts.Right now the legal system has has a poor infrastructure and resources(especially human resources are scarce).Law should be encouraged under the education system and more importantly people must be aware of the options. I am not an expert at law but i do think most of them should be revisited.
The other part of solution is to make job of politicians attractive, for all the right reasons. I believe that international recognition, investment options in public sector undertakings and perks in salary and media coverage of satisfactory performance at appraisals(as discussed earlier) might be a step to make doing- the -right- thing lucrative.
Concluding by answering the questions at the beginning of the article
what do you think about India’s political scenario??
- Its not a dictatorship,that a pro.On cons side,its far from being ideal democracy,way far
Do old politicians understand young India?
-They understand they don't have to!
Are there specific policies/politicians you admire/detest??
-Pretty much all of those who can make a change are not going to do it.
Can the system change?? If yes, how? If not, why not??
-As i have discussed through most of my article,it can improve a little but will never reach the optimal (idealistic definitions are just that, non realistic)
Bottom line no incentive no need for politicians to behave!YET
*All citizens barring the ones who profit by having the political system corrupted ,to rig the system.**I don't consider sting operations as responsible vigilance since they driven solely by TRP ratings translated into income for the publication.

Ridikulus!
And ladies ,Gentleman and all else watching this race, I present to you few specimens that highlight our extreme stupidity
Evidence #1*
Last Thursday, Illinois lawmakers passed legislation that requires all public schools to provide students with a moment of silence at the beginning of the school day.
The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Will Davis, alluded that tragedies like the recent school shooting in Cleveland could have been averted if “that student had an opportunity maybe to sit and reflect.” The bill’s other chief sponsor, Rep. Monique Davis, added the silence will allow students “to listen to the rustling of leaves, to listen to the chirping of a bird.’
Yes our mind is so skilled that REFLECTION solves it all, child abuse, drugs, divorce everything......may be USA should implement mandatory reflection period in IRAQ,that should do it...and hen proceed to Moscow ,Jerusalem,Afghanistan...WHY HAVEN'T we THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE???We should give him the NOBEL prize
Evidence #2**

remind me again-whats humane?
Most of our thoughts after registering such atrocities would be on the lines of WHY!!Why did that happen? Why did we inflict such pain and misery upon our brothers??Why didn’t anyone take a stand for them??Then we try to gather the reasons that made few individuals choose such extreme acts as a favorable means for their end.
Power, Money, Revenge
All these arguments emerge from a mind which is capable of coherent thinking in the full awareness of the traditionally defined sense of Right and Wrong. We base our premise conforming to societies Rights and the taboos defined. Most of these qualities expected from us are Utopian. It’s like the unicorn we would want to find!!What if for a second we forgot that we need to conform to this set of virtues or taboos.
What if we begin by being part of society where the rules are yet to be defined, the players are yet to role their dice, the horrors are yet to be witnessed. Will our stomachs be still filled with such nausea and revolt towards the pictures I mentioned??
It would be hard to discredit this scenario, right after I personally experienced few moments of numbness while reacting to the visuals of atrocities. If such a premise is placed and the human nature explored we might reach a conclusion which we have feared for long. It wouldn’t be hard to presume that Humans have an innate thirst for maliciousness. It would quite possible that we have never totally abandoned our predator instincts. May be we were meant to be hunters all along. That would establish that these atrocities are not abnormalities in behavior but the resurfacing of our true nature. And those entire Why’s which we previously couldn’t answer would instantly disappear. We wouldn’t have to build heavy financial and economical theories to accept the human factor. We wouldn’t have to build a complex cause-effect relationship to explain these deviations. Once we establish the premise of our lack of “humanity”, the deviations would cease to exist. Isn’t that how any theory is supposed to be? Corroborated by facts and devoid of abnormalities, the theory would be totally justifiable.
All along, we were worried that how humans can commit such acts??
If we just recognize the presence of the predator instincts that are a part of our evolution, we would have to think very differently. May be this is why the ideal human behavior has just been the fascination of all and never a reality. May be we were never meant to be so caring and HUMAN.May be that is why it’s difficult to be that person and easy to comment from the sidewalk. May be all our hue and cry over these atrocities is prompted by our desire to conform to that ideal Human behavior. May be the leash of ideals is worn out and all that ugliness of human nature is finally surfacing.
If my maybes are true, I really don’t like it.I realy wouldn’t want to be human.
Then again may be I am afraid of being labeled evil and hence unconsciously train my houghts to think this way!!

And he swings again
President Bush's statements on global warming:
NOW"America's on the verge of technological breakthroughs that will enable us to live our lives less dependent on oil. And these technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment, and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."- Jan. 23, 2007
FIRST TERM"We must also act in a serious and responsible way, given the scientific uncertainties. While these uncertainties remain, we can begin now to address the human factors that contribute to climate change. Wise action now is an insurance policy against future risks."- Feb. 14, 2002
CAMPAIGN"Global warming needs to be taken very seriously, and I take it seriously. But science, there's a lot -- there's differing opinions. And before we react, I think it's best to have the full accounting, full understanding of what's taking place."- Oct. 11, 2000
